I am Bert Self. At Mingyuan I teach ESL course: listening speaking reading and writing. I graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English. Following that degree I took a postgraduate degree in religious education from South Western Baptist Theological Seminary. Prior to moving to China in 2007 I was employed as an English Teacher in the U.S. public school system. During the last 6 years I worked at Xiamen University and I found myself engulfed in teaching ESL courses covering a broad spectrum of topics — from American Culture and Education to Leadership and learning any language. My personal belief regarding to teaching methods is that above all one should try to make both teaching and learning fun! The more enjoyable learning is the better the students learn.

　　我是Bert Self。在铭远高中教授ESL 课程：听力，口语，阅读和写作。我毕业于阿肯色州立大学，获得英语文学学士学位。研究生毕业于西南浸信会神学院，获得宗教教育硕士。在2007 年来中国前，我曾被聘为美国公立学校系统的英语老师。在最近的6 年时间里，我在厦门大学授课，我在教授ESL 课程的过程中，涵盖了广泛的主题 ——美国文化和教育，领导力，以及如何学习任何语言。关于我对教学方式的个人信念，首当其冲的是，让教与学都变得有趣!学习得越愉快，学生学习得更好。
